Jochen Goller: “Neue Klasse is the innovation spearhead, but the technology will be part of the entire BMW family.”

BMW’s much-anticipated Neue Klasse platform, which was unveiled in the form of the iX3 at the 2025 Munich Mobility show, is a peek into the tech to come from the Bavarian brand. According to Jochen Goller, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG for Customer, Brands and Sales, the breakthrough technologies being developed for the new platform are not just for EVs but will be rolled out across the entire BMW range, including combustion and hybrid cars.

  1. Panoramic Vision display, ‘Heart of Joy’ will be rolled out across the line-up
  2. Intends to bridge the gap between the ICE and EV models

That means innovations like Panoramic Vision – a slim display band that projects information across the windshield – and the new ‘Heart of Joy’ computing system will not be restricted to EV buyers. BMW is planning 40 new or refreshed models by 2027, and Gollner confirmed that “all of them” will carry elements of the new user experience.

The strategy is a deliberate one. Unlike rivals that tend to silo their EV tech, BMW believes that the fastest way to familiarise customers with digital interfaces and advanced driver aids is to cascade them into familiar models. That also means ICE customers won’t feel left behind during the EV transition.

“We are not creating two worlds,” said Gollner. “Neue Klasse is the spearhead, but the technology will be part of the entire BMW family.”

For customers, this translates to a faster trickle-down of cutting-edge features and fewer compromises when choosing between ICE, hybrid, or EV. In short, you won’t need to wait for a Neue Klasse model to experience BMW’s future.
