Mini has launched the Cooper S Victory Edition in India at Rs 57.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings for the Cooper S Victory Edition opened in late February, and it’s available in limited quantities as a full CBU (completely built unit) import. It notably commemorates the 52-numbered original Mini Cooper that won the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally.

On the outside, the Cooper S Victory Edition matches the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally winner with an exclusive Chilli Red paint finish, ‘52’ decals on the sides, and a white roof (a black roof is also available).

It additionally gets a white strip that starts on the bonnet and ends at the tailgate, a twin-ridge roof spoiler, unique 18-inch alloys, a central exhaust tip, and a red ‘1965’ decals on the tailgate and D-pillars. The bundled JCW cosmetic package also includes ‘John Cooper Works’ badges on the grille and tailgate, blacked-out Mini emblems, and gloss black exterior trim.

The interior of the Cooper S Victory Edition is similarly awash with small tributes and references to the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally winner. Opening the doors reveals stickers that pay tribute to driver Timo Makinen and co-driver Paul Easter – they piloted the original Cooper to victory at the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally – and the sills are emblazoned with ‘1965 Victory Edition’ decals.

Inside, the bottom spoke of the steering wheel is finished in the same red-and-white scheme as the exterior, with a '1965' emblem at the base. Another '1965' emblem adorns centre armrest, which is upholstered in fabric and has a hoop, and the 9.45-inch circular infotainment touchscreen has a background featuring the original Mini Cooper that won the rally. Even the key fob features a '52' emblem and '1965 Victory Edition' lettering.

As for creature comforts, the Cooper S Victory Edition comes with JCW-spec powered sports seats up front, automatic climate control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Level 1 ADAS, a heads-up display, a heated steering wheel, a Harman Kardon surround sound system, a panoramic glass roof, and more.

The Victory Edition stays exactly the same as the standard Cooper S in this regard, so you get 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine outputting 204hp and 300Nm. A 7-speed dual-clutch automatic sends power to the front wheels, with a claimed 0-100kph time of 6.6 seconds and top speed of 242kph. Adaptive suspension and JCW-spec sports brakes are also part of the package.
