Mercedes-Benz India will officially unveil the Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series in India on March 17, 2025. The luxury roadster first broke cover internationally in August 2024 and is touted to be the sportiest Maybach model ever made.

  1. Maybach SL 680 features dual-tone paint scheme, slatted grille, and more
  2. The interior gets white leather seats and a chrome finish on the dashboard trim
  3. Powered by 585hp, 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8; 0-100kph in 4.1 seconds

Mercedes-Maybach SL 680: design and interior

The SL 680 builds upon the standard SL Roadster's menacing looks with some defining Maybach touches, the most recognisable of which is the classic grille with thin, illuminated vertical slats. Lower down, the front bumper gets a less aggressive design compared to the SL Roadster and is adorned with chrome. The bonnet is finished in Obsidian Black and patterned with Maybach logos, as well as the soft roof. Elsewhere, the Maybach SL 680 dons Garnet Red paint.

Over to the side, the SL 680's wheels feature a bespoke multi-spoke design in typical Maybach fashion, and the wing mirrors sport a black finish. Much like the front, the rear bumper of the SL 680 tones down the aggression from the SL Roadster with a smoother, more chrome-embellished look.

On the inside, the SL 680 is the last word in opulence thanks to its white Nappa leather seats and dashboard, satin silver finish on the AC vents, new three-spoke steering wheel, and Maybach logos on the roll hoops. Mercedes has also tweaked the SL 680's exhaust system to be quieter than the SL Roadster in a bid to reduce noise in the cabin, and the suspension is also geared towards passenger comfort.

Mercedes-Maybach SL 680: powertrain

While the Maybach's design foregoes the sporting credentials of the standard SL Roadster, the SL 680 is still powered by a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 that develops a meaty 585hp and 800Nm of torque - 109hp and 50Nm more than the SL 55. The unit feeds power to all four wheels through a 9-speed automatic transmission and can sprint to 100kph from rest in just 4.1 seconds.

It remains to be seen how Mercedes-Benz prices the Maybach SL 680 in India. The SL 55 Roadster currently retails for Rs 2.35 crore (ex-showroom), so we expect the Maybach SL 680 to cost a fair bit more than that.
