The S-Class Coupe has been patended in two different iterations.

Mercedes S-Class

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class coupe might make a comeback after being discontinued globally a few years ago. Latest trademark filings at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) preview two different iterations of the S-Class coupe; however, these trademarks were filed by Swiss coach building company Robu Aktiengesellschaft and not by Mercedes-Benz.

  • Expected to get V8 and V12 engine options
  • Could be sold under Mercedes’ Mythos brand
  • S-Class sedan to get mid-life facelift this year

Mercedes S-Class coupe could be a limited offering

Going by the trademarks filed, these Mercedes S-Class coupes could emerge as highly limited edition offerings in the future.

The first trademarked design sports the unmistakable bodywork of the Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance, complete with its aggressive bumper intakes and signature quad tailpipes. It gets a V8 Biturbo E Peformance badging, so it could be powered by the 802hp plug-in hybrid powertrain that does duty on the AMG S 63 sedan. Interestingly, this prototype has Maybach-like dual tone exterior paint theme.

The second prototype is more luxurious and patent images discovered by Car and Driver show it with Maybach logos and a split rear window, resembling the Maybach Vision 6 concept shown back in 2016. This could be powered by the twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre V12 engine found in the Maybach S680, which puts out 630hp.

While there is no news on their official debut, we expect these unique S-Class coupes to be revealed sometime this year. Mercedes could introduce one of the two iterations under the exclusive Mythos brand. The standard S-Class sedan is also expected to get a mid-life facelift later this year.
