About a year after introducing its flagship EQS EV sedan overseas, Mercedes-Benz has now revealed the interior of the sedan's counterpart – the EQS SUV – which will have a world premiere on April 19, just two days prior to the opening of the 2022 Beijing Motor Show.

    • EQS SUV will be based on the same platform as its sedan counterpart
    • Will carry forward the 56-inch MBUX Hyperscreen
    • Exterior of the SUV is still under wraps

Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV interior: a familiar place

The SUV shares the EVA2 platform with the EQS sedan, and combines the latter's luxury features with the practicality of an SUV. The upcoming EQS will have an electrically adjustable second row, while a third-row seating will be offered as an option.

The SUV also carries over the technology from the sedan, like the innovative 56-inch MBUX Hyperscreen – which encompasses the whole dashboard as a screen – and an increased focus on digitalisation. The front passenger gets a 12.3-inch OLED display, and the facility to stream online content. The car's internal camera can also detect if a driver is looking at the screen and dim it accordingly.

As usual, Mercedes-Benz has filled the cabin with leather and wood, thereby retaining the luxurious feel. Customers have an option to illuminate the cabin with seven different colours, and also opt for the rear seat entertainment package.

Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV exterior: still partially under cover

The Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV's exterior has yet to be fully unveiled. What we do know, however, is that the SUV will be built by the carmaker in Tuscaloosa, in Alabama, USA, with battery being supplied by its own plant in the region.

    Mercedes-Benz India plans

The German luxury carmaker recently launched the S-Class Maybach and has announced that it will manufacture the flagship EQS sedan in India. However, there is no information yet if the EQS SUV will make it here. Stay tuned for more details.
