Mercedes-AMG has revealed the new GT 53 4-door Coupe internationally, positioned as the new entry-spec model for the flagship all-electric performance nameplate. It sits below the GT 55 and GT 63 variants, which were revealed in May 2026. The new GT 53 variant gets a 106kWh battery with a claimed range of 793km, and a 544hp dual-motor AWD setup with a claimed 0-100kph time of 3.5 seconds.

Unlike the higher variants, the GT 53 gets a dual-motor setup, but the highest range
The Mercedes-AMG GT 53 features the same liquid-cooled 106kWh battery pack but features a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) system that produces 544hp and 800Nm. Compared to this, the tri-motor setup in the higher-spec GT 55 and GT 63 produces an additional 272hp, 1000Nm and 625hp, 1200Nm, respectively. Although the new GT 53 variant is claimed to do a 0-100kph run in 3.5 seconds, it is 0.8 seconds slower than the GT 55 and 1.1 seconds slower than the top-of-the-line GT 63.
However, the lack of an additional electric motor on the GT 53 enables the highest claimed range in the portfolio – 793km, which is 103km more than the GT 55 and 107km more than the GT 63. The new Mercedes-AMG GT 53 4-door Coupe, with its 800-volt architecture, supports up to 600kW DC fast charging, which can recharge the battery pack for a range of 534km in 10 minutes.
The AMG GT 53 retains the simulated gearshifts from the higher-spec variants. However, it also produces synthesised engine sounds resembling the manufacturer’s 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six mills, unlike the artificial V8 sounds on the GT 55 and GT 63.
Everything else, including the air suspension with adaptive damping and the 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system, is identical across all variants of the GT range. The GT 53 also gets Torque Vectoring, which ensures an individual distribution of drive force between the rear wheels for optimal driving pleasure.
For optimal aerodynamic efficiency, the Mercedes-AMG GT 53 gets a functional spoiler, which deploys at speeds beyond 150kph, channelling the air at various angles for maximised downforce and stability. It can also be activated with the touch of a button on the steering wheel. The rear diffuser also improves the aerodynamics of the GT 53, enabling lower air resistance, resulting in “increased efficiency and thus a greater range even at high motorway speeds”.
Unlike the GT 63, the new GT 53 does not get a connected light bar at the front
Like the GT 55, the new GT 53 is not offered with an LED light bar that connects both the LED headlights. Instead, there is a scoop under the hood that makes it look more contemporary than the GT 63. The headlights, with star-shaped DRLs, and the concave grille with vertical slats are identical across all variants of the all-electric GT model.
The side profile is sleek, with a shoulder line that swells towards the rear. The rear end sports three tail-light pods on each side with tristar LED elements, inspired by the Vision AMG and GT XX concepts. The tail-light area is surrounded by a gloss black trim, which gives the Grand Tourer a lot of character.
It gets three screens on the dashboard and a panoramic glass roof
Like modern-day Mercedes cars, the AMG GT 53 gets a three-screen layout on the dashboard, featuring a 10.2-inch digital driver’s display, a 14-inch driver-oriented touchscreen infotainment system and a 14-inch touchscreen for the front passenger. It also gets an AMG-specific 3-spoke steering wheel with a mix of touch-enabled buttons and a physical rocker and roller button. It also gets paddle shifters, which, unlike a typical EV, do not manage the battery regeneration levels, but simulate manual gear changes, making the GT feel like an ICE car in the 'AMGFORCE Sport+' drive mode. Other drive modes include 'Comfort', 'Sport', 'Slippery', 'Eco' and 'Individual'.
The centre console features two wireless phone charging pads and two displays for the AMG badge and a ‘GT’ emblem. It also gets a central armrest with a concealed storage space beneath it. The GT 53 also gets a panoramic glass roof, with switchable transparent and non-transparent segments and illuminated elements. It is offered with 507 litres of boot space and a 62-litre frunk as well.
There is no word from Mercedes-Benz about the all-electric GT 4-door Coupe's launch in India. Currently, the nameplate is offered in the country as a combustion-powered model priced at Rs 3.27 crore.
