Mahindra introduced its new flagship SUV, the Alturas G4, in India on November 24, 2018 starting at Rs 26.95 lakh and going up to Rs 29.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Alturas G4 replaced the slow-selling Ssangyong Rexton in our market and is Mahindra’s most expensive offering till date. 

The company has announced that it has gathered 1,000 bookings for the new SUV. While the number maybe a bit small compared to its direct rival the Toyota Fortuner – which sells around 1,800 units a month – Mahindra is satisfied with the number of bookings.

Speaking at the financial results announcement, Pawan Goenka, MD Mahindra and Mahindra said that he is confident that new launches like the Marazzo, Alturas and XUV300 will deliver combined sales of 9,000 units a month. He further added that he is “happy” with the 1,000 bookings so far for the Alturas. 

While the Mahindra Alturas G4 is essentially a rebadged Ssangyong Rexton G4, the Indian carmaker has made subtle styling tweaks with a new grille and has tweaked the interior as well. The Mahindra Alturas G4 gets premium leather upholstery with soft-touch materials, a sunroof, a decent-sized touchscreen and a long list of features.  The seven-seat SUV is available with a lower-spec variant that comes with 2WD and a top-spec 4WD variant that also gets nine airbags.
