Lexus has debuted a pair of concepts at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, previewing a reinvention of the brand’s former flagship sedan nameplate, the LS (or ‘Luxury Sedan’), into a new model line dubbed ‘Luxury Space’ that spans various body styles. The first of these is the Lexus LS Concept – an outlandish 6-wheeled luxury MPV – and the other is the LS Coupe Concept, which adopts a coupe-SUV form factor.

First 6-wheeled luxury MPV.

Of the two concepts Lexus revealed, the LS Concept is undoubtedly the more eccentric one. As mentioned above, the LS Concept’s 6-wheel layout makes it one of a kind – the first-ever MPV with three axles. Lexus says it opted for six wheels to “revolutionise packaging” in the LS Concept, without revealing further details. The brand has expressed confidence in retaining the layout for the production version.

Windshield extends right up to the LED-heavy front end.

Up front, the LS Concept gets an LED light bar that extends into the bumper, converging with a separate set of L-shaped LEDs to form a triangular shape. There’s another vertical LED strip in the bumper, and the ‘LEXUS’ lettering up top is illuminated. The windshield slopes right down to the upper edge of the fascia, so the LS Concept doesn’t have a bonnet. Outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs) are also absent.

As for the side, the LS Concept has huge deep-dish front wheels with illuminated centres, and the sliding rear doors have slatted windows for privacy. The four rear wheels are much smaller than those at the front but get similar illumination, and the rear is dominated by a wraparound LED light bar that extends upwards along with L-shaped LEDs on the bumper. A split tailgate with illuminated ‘LEXUS’ lettering can also be observed, with dual red-lit shark-fin antennas up top.

Sparse dashboard is packed with displays.

The LS Concept’s boxy proportions, as expected, make for immense space inside. The dashboard layout is very minimal, with a trio of screens surrounding the yoke steering wheel, as well as five smaller displays for vehicle controls on the centre console. Notably, there’s another wide display further out on the dashboard that combines ORVM and IRVM (interior rearview mirror) camera views.

Acres of space across three rows.

Coming to the seats, the LS Concept has three rows, but only six headrests have been provided. The middle bench is reclinable, and the third row appears to have quite a lot of legroom, too. Dual panoramic glass roofs sit above the occupants, and the entire cabin is decked out in premium materials, including wood and bamboo.

Compared to the LS Concept, the LS Coupe Concept’s body style is much more conventional but still fairly striking. It features an LED setup that forms a Greek sigma (Σ) shape at the front, with air intakes at the bottom of the bumper and a huge duct on the bonnet to guide airflow over the roof.

The side profile shows off more intakes and ducts, gloss-black body cladding, large alloy wheels, ORVM camera units and a sleek blacked-out roofline adorned with bronze trim. However, the roofline doesn’t extend to the tailgate’s upper edge, making for a staggered profile. At the back, the LS Coupe Concept gets a rectangular LED setup with 3D ‘LEXUS’ lettering and a sizeable 2-fin diffuser below.

Passenger screen and layered displays ahead of the driver.

Inside, the LS Coupe Concept gets three screens on the dashboard, two of which are layered behind the yoke steering wheel, handling instrumentation and outside camera views; the third one serves as a passenger display. There’s another screen above the front passengers that controls the HVAC system, and it runs right into the huge panoramic glass roof.

Interestingly, the driver’s seat and dashboard are finished in sea green, while the rest of the cabin is beige. Access to the LS Coupe Concept’s second row is via rear-hinged doors.

The LS Coupe Concept’s boot is also unique in that the central tailgate panel slides down, and a cargo floor automatically extends outwards.

Both concepts are likely EVs.

While Lexus remains tight-lipped on what powers the LS and LS Coupe concepts, their cabin layouts and flat floors heavily indicate that they’re fully electric.
