Lamborghini reveals Urus SE Performante as its hottest SUV yet

Lamborghini has revealed the Urus SE Performante, marking a comeback for the high-performance version of the Urus, after the non-PHEV Performante's discontinuation in 2024. The new Lamborghini Urus SE Performante is currently the Italian manufacturer’s most powerful SUV and gets performance and design upgrades over the standard Urus SE.

  1. 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with PHEV produces 812hp, 1000Nm
  2. Claims a 0-100 time of 3.3 seconds; top speed of 312kph
  3. Weighs 32kg less than the standard model

The Lamborghini Urus SE Performante gets the standard Urus SE’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine with an electric motor integrated inside the 8-speed automatic transmission, powered by a 25.9kWh lithium-ion battery located beneath the rear cargo floor. This setup produces a combined output of 812hp and 1,000Nm, which is 12hp and 50Nm more than the standard Urus SE’s outputs and 146hp and 150Nm over the erstwhile Urus Performante. This results in a claimed 0-100kph time of 3.3 seconds (0.1 second less than the Urus SE), 0-200kph time of 10.8 seconds (0.4 seconds less), but the same electronically limited top speed of 312kph. Despite the performance increase, it continues to offer 60km of all-electric range, the same as the standard Urus SE.

The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to all four wheels (AWD). Lamborghini says it has recalibrated the transmission and updated the engine management software, reducing response times and minimising torque lag. There’s also a new ‘Rally’ driving mode “specifically calibrated to deliver maximum driving excitement on loose surfaces” along with the Strada, Sport, Corsa and EV modes.

In addition to these, the Urus SE Performante is equipped with a new ‘AURA dual-chamber air suspension system’, which Lamborghini says “not only halves body roll during fast driving but also reduces vibrations by 25 percent compared to the previous-gen Urus Performante.” An Integrated Power Brake (IPB) system works in tandem with the Temerario-derived 6D vehicle dynamic computer for “6 percent faster manoeuvrability and 12 percent faster reaction time”, compared to the previous non-hybrid Urus.

Various carbon fibre elements on the body, a lightweight titanium Akrapovic exhaust system, a new Integrated Power Brake (IPB) system, lighter sound-deadening materials and new 'Corsa Tex' Dinamica upholstery inside the cabin have helped in a weight reduction of 32kg, bringing the Urus SE Performante’s kerb weight to 2,473 kg.

Gets new exposed carbon-fibre elements, which also help with weight reduction

Lamborghini is offering the Urus SE Performante with exposed carbon fibre materials on the bonnet, roof, aviation-inspired roof wing, side skirts and rear diffuser. With new ‘S-Duct’ hood intakes (which also optimise powertrain cooling) and larger air intakes, it achieves a 3 percent reduction in aerodynamic drag compared to the Urus SE. The Performante version also generates 23 percent more downforce than the standard Urus SE. It sports new ‘NACA’ ducts, which work in conjunction with the front splitter to channel cool air directly toward the discs and callipers, increasing braking efficiency by 8 percent.

It is fitted with either 22- or 23-inch alloy wheels fitted with Pirelli P Zero tyres as standard. Pirelli Scorpion Winter 2 snow tyres or Bridgestone Potenza Race semi-slick tyres for maximum track performance are also available as accessories.

Gets a microfibre upholstery and a new steering wheel

Inside, as mentioned earlier, it gets ‘Corsa Tex' Dinamica upholstery, a suede-like microfiber fabric that helps it shed 2.7kg from the total 32kg weight reduction. Leather upholstery is, however, offered as an optional accessory. The Urus SE Performante also gets a new steering wheel with a carbon fibre bezel. While the dual 12.3-inch screens (one for the driver’s display and another for the infotainment) are the same as the standard Urus SE, they sport Revuelto-inspired graphics on the Performante.

Lamborghini is yet to reveal whether the Urus SE Performante will be available in India, although it can be expected to come here given that the non-PHEV Urus Performante was previously offered in the country. Currently, the plug-in-hybrid SE is the only Urus available in India, priced at Rs 4.57 crore (ex-showroom).
