Interior spy shots of JSW Motors' EVs based on the Jaecoo J5 and iCar V23 have surfaced online, giving us the first glimpse of the features that could be on offer. Both Jaecoo and iCar are subsidiary brands of China's Chery, with which JSW Motors has a tie-up here.
- Interiors of both J5 and V23 resemble international-spec models
- JSW to launch Jetour T2-based SUV likely by later this year
JSW Motors' Jaecoo J5, iCar V23 interior spy shots details
Jaecoo J5-based SUV
The dashboard layout seen in the spy shots closely resembles the model sold in international markets. A vertically oriented touchscreen dominates the centre of the dash, and it could be the 14.8-inch unit seen on the global version. A sunroof is also visible, likely a panoramic one. Higher variants even get powered and ventilated front seats, a 540-degree camera system, six airbags and Level 2 ADAS, and it remains to be seen which of these make it to the India-spec model.
The international-spec Jaecoo J5 comes with hybrid and all-electric powertrains, but JSW Motors is understood to be considering only the latter version for India. This EV uses a 60.9kWh battery pack, paired with a front-mounted motor making 210hp and 288Nm. It is claimed to do 0-100kph in 7.3 seconds and support DC fast charging of up to around 130kW; claimed NEDC range is 461km.
iCar V23-based SUV
Similar to the J5, the interior of the iCar V23-based SUV matches that of the international-spec model. The massive central touchscreen, likely 15.4 inches, may house major car controls. Other highlights include a contrasting finish for the air vents, three-spoke steering wheel, large central armrest with storage area and dashcam.
In international markets, the iCar V23 is offered with two powertrains. The rear-wheel-drive version makes 136hp and 180Nm, uses a 59.93kWh battery, and has a claimed CLTC range of 401km. The more powerful all-wheel-drive version gets an 81.76kWh battery, 211hp and 292Nm, with a claimed range of 510km. The RWD version is said to do 0-100kph in 11 seconds, while the AWD model cuts that to 7.5 seconds; both versions have a top speed of 140kph. Depending on the battery pack, DC fast charging speeds range from 85kW to 104kW.
JSW Motors' first SUV in India

JSW is set to enter the Indian car market with a T2-based SUV from Jetour, also owned by Chery, likely by later this year. The T2-based derivative is expected to be similar in size to the Toyota Fortuner. It is setting up a new manufacturing facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, where this SUV will be assembled; the iCar V23-based SUV is likely to follow the same route. The launch, which was first expected in the second half of 2026, has reportedly been delayed because approvals for importing Chinese components are moving slowly.
