Jeep has debuted the Recon SUV as its first all-electric off-roader and third EV overall, following the Avenger and Wagoneer S. The Recon was first unveiled during Jeep’s 4xe Day 2022 and is set to hit global markets in 2026. The American carmaker has disclosed details surrounding the Recon’s Moab trim, which will be sold in the US and Canada only.

  1. Jeep Recon sports muscular, squared-off design with removable doors and rear glasses
  2. It has 2-tone interior with 14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen and 12.3-inch driver’s display
  3. Recon’s 100kWh, dual-motor powertrain develops 659hp; claimed range is over 400km

Rugged and boxy proportions.

Up front, the Recon features an illuminated 7-slat grille – exclusive to Jeep’s EVs – flanked by squarish headlights with U-shaped LED signatures. Lower down, it gets a chunky skid plate with a central air dam, along with integrated tow hooks and fog lamps. There’s a Moab-specific anti-glare graphic on the bonnet as well.

Doors and rear glasses are easily removable.

The Recon’s side profile is characterised by flared fenders with boxy cladding, straight window lines, exposed door hinges, roof rails, 18-inch alloys shod in 33-inch all-terrain tyres (Moab trim only), flush-mounted electric door handles and blacked-out roof and pillars. Sticking to the off-roader theme, the Recon’s doors, rear quarter glass and rear windshield are removable, that too without any tools.

Over to the rear, the Recon’s tail-lamps are placed at the very corners, flanking a tailgate-mounted spare wheel. The tailgate itself is hinged on the side, and it sits above a muscular rear bumper with integrated stop lamps.

Recon ground clearance stands at 238mm (Moab trim).

According to Jeep, the Recon has 238mm of ground clearance with the 33-inch Moab-specific tyres, a 34-degree approach angle, a 34.5-degree departure angle and a 23.5-degree breakover angle.

The Recon’s tan-and-black interior is a tech-laden affair, with a 14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen taking centre stage on the dashboard; the screen incorporates the HVAC controls. There’s a 2-tone flat-bottomed steering wheel and a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, while the passenger side gets a grab handle and silver trim. An Alpine premium sound system is included in the Recon as standard.

On the floating centre console, we can observe cup holders, a wireless charging pad, a rotary drive selector, storage space underneath, and a red panel that includes toggles for the terrain modes and e-diff. The Recon also gets a panoramic sunroof as standard, and buyers can even opt for a soft-top roof instead.

Up to 1,866 litres of cargo space, along with an 85-litre frunk.

Jeep claims that the Recon’s cargo space stands at a cavernous 1,866 litres with the rear seats folded down, and the EV gets an 85-litre frunk too.

2026 Jeep Recon battery and range

100kWh battery, dual-motor powertrain.

Based on the same STLA Large platform as the Wagoneer S, the Recon comes equipped with a 100kWh battery pack powering dual electric motors – one for each axle – to form a 4x4 setup. Total output is rated at 659hp and 841Nm, making the Recon the most powerful Jeep EV to date. Jeep says the Recon can do 0-60mph (0-97kph) sprint in 3.6 seconds, and its claimed range is 402km.

Off-road focus.

Among the notable off-road-centric features in the Recon is the Selec-Terrain traction management system comprising Auto, Sport, Snow and Sand modes. In the Moab trim, the Recon gets a Rock mode with hill-hold assist too. Moreover, the Recon is fitted with low-speed cruise control to smoothly negotiate steep inclines and declines.

Jeep has calibrated the Recon’s throttle pedal to deliver torque in an instantaneous but gradual manner to aid off-road driving. It also features an electronic locking differential, large-diameter half shafts, an 11:1 final drive ratio on the front motor and a 15:1 final drive ratio for the rear motor (Moab trim only).
