Isuzu has just launched the updated MU-X SUV at a price of Rs 26.27 lakh for the 4x2 variant and Rs 28.23 lakh for the 4x4 variant (all prices, ex showroom Hyderabad). The company has taken its time to bring the facelift to our market. The facelifted model was already on sale internationally, back in May 2017, when the pre-facelift MU-X was first launched in India.

The refreshed SUV gets a few tweaks to the exterior, more equipment and improved safety features. In terms of the appearance, there's a restyled bumper to accentuate the already butch styling and it also gets projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights. The rear bumper is tweaked slightly, the tail-lamps get LED inserts and the SUV now rides on larger, 18-inch alloys.

The insides get plenty of soft-touch surfaces and a silver plastic surround for the central dash section, which lend a premium feel to the interiors.

Other equipment includes quilt-pattern leather upholstery, a roof-mounted fold down screen, a 60:40 folding 2nd row seat with armrest and cupholders, a USB port inside the middle console box, cruise control, a powered driver’s seat and keyless entry and go.

Powering the MU-X facelift is the same 3.0-litre, turbo-diesel engine putting out 177hp and 390Nm of torque, paired with the same 5-speed automatic gearbox.

Importantly, the Isuzu now offers six airbags (driver, front passenger, side and curtain) as standard fitment with the MU-X, up from the two airbags offered with the earlier model. Other safety kit includes electronic stability control, traction control, hill-descent control and ABS with EBD and emergency brake assist.

The MU-X also comes with a commendable 5 years warranty and 5 years free periodic maintenance or 150,000 km (whichever is earlier).
