Isuzu D-Max V-Cross, MU-X now with big discounts

Isuzu dealers have started doling out massive discounts on the likes of the D-Max V-Cross lifestyle pickup truck and the MU-X SUV, which are priced (before discounts) at Rs 15.32 lakh and Rs 27.35 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), respectively. While certain dealers are offering over Rs 3 lakh off on the D-Max V-Cross, the MU-X is being served up to customers with discounts over Rs 5 lakh.

The discounts are likely for the purpose of selling off existing stock before Isuzu launches the highly awaited automatic gearbox version of the D-Max V-Cross pickup truck. The new V-Cross will also get a new BS6-ready engine that will make more power than the current (and outgoing) motor, which will be discontinued as it will not meet BS6 emission norms.

When contacted over the phone, dealers stated discounts from Rs 3-5 lakh for the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross, but with limited colour options; most dealers stated that the popular black colour was already sold out, while colours like white, silver, brown or dark red were still available. Similarly, most dealers mentioned that the MU-X – a full size seven-seater SUV that takes on the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and the Skoda Kodiaq, among others – was being offered with discounts of over Rs 5 lakh in some cases.

The current generation Isuzu D-Max V-Cross gets a 2.5-litre engine that makes 134hp of peak power and 320Nm of peak torque, and is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The upcoming model will get some feature updates, like new wheels and a better infotainment system, but most importantly, it will get a 1.9-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged unit that will make 160hp and 360Nm of torque (up by 26hp and 40Nm). The new engine will also be mated to an updated 6-speed manual gearbox and a new 5-speed automatic transmission.
