The Maruti Suzuki Dzire has been averaging over 18,000 units per month in sales since its launch in May last year. It was about time that the compact sedan reached another milestone going by the popularity it has gained. The Dzire has crossed the 3 lakh sales mark in 17 months, which is a new record in the industry. According to R S Kalsi, Senior Senior Executive Director (M&S) at Maruti Suzuki India, the sales of the new Dzire have gone up by 28 percent compared to the previous generation car.

The sales figures also indicate that almost 25 percent of customers have opted for top-end variants owing to the long list of equipment. Some of the important features on the Z+ variants include LED headlamps, auto headlamps, daytime running lamps, 15-inch alloy wheels and a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The car is also well equipped in terms of safety features and has ABS with EBD, dual airbags, reverse parking camera with sensors and Isofix child seat anchors.

The Dzire is offered with an 82hp, 1.2-litre petrol engine and 74hp, 1.3-litre diesel, both with either a 5-speed manual or AMT (automated manual transmission). And while the manual transmission still remains the preferred choice, almost 20 percent of customers have opted for the automatic variants.
