Best sedan discounts in September 2018

As the festive season usually sees the highest sales, every year carmakers and dealerships offer numerous benefits and discounts on slower-selling models. This month, Mercedes is looking to clear stocks of its C-class sedan before the facelift arrives, while Honda and Hyundai are looking to make their respective mid-size sedans more attractive to better battle the recently launched Maruti Suzuki Ciaz facelift.

    Mercedes C-class diesel

Save up to Rs 6 lakh
The current-gen C-class will get a mid-life facelift this month, with many new bits inside and out, including new engines. The model takes on the BMW 3-series and the Volvo S60 in the Indian market. Available in three trims – C 220d Style, C 220d Avantgarde and C 250d Avantgarde – the lower-spec C 220ds get a 170hp, 2.2-litre engine while the C 250d is powered by a 204hp version of the same motor. Dealers are offering discounts in the range of Rs 6 lakh on most variants in order to clear stocks.

    Volkswagen Vento

Save up to Rs 1 lakh
The Vento comes with a premium quality cabin, a decent features list and a diesel DSG automatic variant. Top-spec variants get LED lights, too. However, the model has been on sale for more than five years; so to drive sales, the brand is offering discounts and benefits going up to Rs 1 lakh on most variants.

    Toyota Corolla Altis

Save up to Rs 1 lakh
The Corolla Altis is Toyota’s answer to the Skoda Octavia and possesses the typical traits of the Japanese brand – reliability, spacious interiors and good ride quality. It is a sensible buy rather than an exciting one. The executive sedan is powered by a 140hp, 1.8-litre petrol engine and a somewhat dull 88hp, 1.4-litre diesel motor. While a 6-speed manual is standard on both, the petrol model gets a CVT automatic option. This month, the carmaker is offering discounts to the tune of up to 1 lakh on this car.

    Hyundai Xcent

    Save up to Rs 90,000
The Xcent is a direct rival to the Dzire and the Amaze. It comes with a decent equipment list, a premium cabin and standard safety features like ABS and EBD on all variants. It is available as a petrol-automatic, too; but unlike the Honda Amaze and Maruti Suzuki Dzire, there is no diesel-auto option on offer. The slow-moving Xcent is being offered at discounts and benefits in the range of up to Rs 90,000 at all outlets.

    Tata Zest Premio edition

    Save up to Rs 80,000
Only available with a 75hp, 1.3-litre diesel motor, the Premio-badged Zest is now available with benefits of up to Rs 80,000. Slotting under the top-spec XT trim in the compact sedan’s range, the Zest Premio differentiates itself on the outside with black-finished outside mirrors, boot lid, hood strip and roof, along with a black boot-spoiler. The cabin features a new seat fabric with contrast stitching, Premio branding and a tan-finish on the centre of the dashboard.

    Honda City

    Save up to Rs 75,000
The Honda City is one of the most popular sedans in its category. It faces stiff competition from the Ciaz facelift and the Verna in addition to the Vento, Rapid and Yaris. Top-spec trims come loaded with LED accents, a sunroof, and a unique alloy wheel design. Discounts and benefits in the range of Rs 75,000 are on offer at most locations, this month, for the 119hp, 1.5-litre petrol engine model. Meanwhile, the 100hp, 1.5-litre diesel variants are available with benefits of up to Rs 65,000.

    Hyundai Verna

    Save up to Rs 60,000
At the moment, the Verna is the most recommended car in its segment. It comes loaded with features, including a sunroof and cooled seats in the top-spec variants. The Verna also brings the most sought-after diesel-automatic combination to the table. Discounts and benefits in the range of up to Rs 60,000 are on offer with the 128hp, 1.6-litre diesel at most locations, depending on inventory. The 123hp, 1.6-litre petrol model is also on offer with discounts going up to Rs 50,000.

    Maruti Suzuki Dzire

    Save up to Rs 50,000
Maruti Suzuki’s compact sedan sees fierce competition from the likes of the Honda Amaze. It scores high on ride quality as well as cabin space; and gets the frugal 83hp, 1.2-litre petrol and 75hp, 1.3-litre diesel mills. Both motors get the option of a 5-speed AMT along with a 5-pseed manual as standard. Discounts and benefits of up to Rs 50,000 can be availed on the compact sedan.
