BMW 2 Series M Performance edition: what’s new?

It seems like the BMW 2 Series M Performance edition will only get exterior cosmetic upgrades. This limited edition model will solely be available in Black Sapphire colour with contrasting silver accents in the grille, bumper and wing mirrors. It will also get an M Performance grille, gear selector lever and other M-specific parts.

BMW 2 Series M Performance edition interior and features

Inside, the 220i M Performance edition will get a dual-tone black and beige interior. While there is no information about the features list of the M Performance edition, we expect it to be carried over from the standard 2 Series Gran Coupe. It will likely get two 10.25-inch screens – one for the digital instrument cluster and one for the infotainment touchscreen – along with a wireless charger, head-up display, rear view camera and dual-zone climate control. For safety, the 2 Series Gran Coupe gets six airbags and seat belts for all passengers as standard.

BMW 2 Series M Performance edition engine

Under the hood, the 2 Series M Performance edition will get the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 179hp and 280Nm, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It can do a 0-100kph run in 7.1 seconds (claimed).

BMW 2 Series M Performance edition price and rivals

Prices for the M Performance edition will be announced on September 7 and we expect it to be priced slightly higher than the M Sport Pro trim. The 220i M Sport and 220i M Sport Pro are priced at Rs 43.50 lakh and Rs 45.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India), respectively. The 2 Series Gran Coupe only rivals the Mercedes-Benz A-Class limousine (Rs 45.80 lakh, ex-showroom, India).
