The Pininfarina Battista will get e-SIM based connected car technology that will allow owners to easily access online services in more than 50 countries worldwide. Automobili Pininfarina recently announced a partnership with integrated communications leader, Deutsche Telekom to provide this service.

  • Battistas to get e-SIM and roaming technology
  • Pininfarina to provide engineers on call for vehicle issues not solved by OTA updates

Every Battista will receive an embedded SIM and roaming technology with Deutsche Telekom’s roaming partner network and roaming traffic steering logic, enabling the vehicle to search for the strongest network, ensuring minimal communication black spots even when crossing international borders.

The Battista will also get Over-The-Air (OTA) updates with the system able to remotely update 26 individual electronic control modules across functions covering the electric powertrain, safety and driving dynamics systems, vehicle control, infotainment as well as digital services. These software updates can be delivered via WIFI when parked within range, or using the embedded SIM.

Smart Diagnostics technology with engineering teams on call for issues

The effortless digital concierge experience includes Smart Diagnostics technology, which monitors the vehicle for potential issues. If the system detects an issue that cannot be dealt with remotely by a software update, Automobili Pininfarina will dispatch one of its team of highly-skilled engineers to resolve the issue wherever the vehicle is in the world.

Smartphone app

A specially developed smartphone app will keep owners connected to their car at all times. App-based functions will include remotely locking and unlocking the vehicle, viewing vehicle telemetry, checking the state of charge and monitoring the car’s location. On the move, drivers can seamlessly link their smartphone which will mirror key apps and functions within the vehicle for enhanced music streaming and real-time navigation capabilities.

Automobili Pininfarina future plans

The all-electric 1900hp Battista is Automobili Pininfarina’s first in-house model. Revealed at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, deliveries of the hypercar are set to begin from 2021 with final testing having started in August this year. Earlier this year, the carmaker revealed an ultra-exclusive Battista Anniversario edition to commemorate Pininfarina’s 90th anniversary.

Pininfarina has its eyes set on developing a five model family by 2025 with the Battista the first of the lot. Following the Battista is an all-electric luxury SUV, that will debut in 2022.
