Audi has released a teaser video of its all-new A8 as it is scheduled to debut at the Audi summit in Barcelona on July 11, 2017. The fourth-generation Audi A8 looks set to bring in significant improvements over its predecessor in terms of both appearance and performance.
Interestingly, Audi has confirmed that the next-gen model will be a hybrid only making it the first Audi model to feature only hybrid powertrains. Entry-level cars will feature a mild hybrid system, although it's likely that plug-in versions will appear higher up in the range, with greater electric-only driving potential. The hybrid systems are expected to be paired with a family of V6 and V8 engines, with the current model's W12 option also likely to be retained.
Based on the MLB Evo platform, the next-gen A8 will be one of the most technologically advanced sedans from the automaker. As per a recently released teaser trailer, the car will feature tech such as remote parking – allowing the car to park itself at the push of a button, along with a host of autonomous driving functions.
The teaser also revealed some design aspects of the upcoming model, including the new-design multifunction steering inside the cabin, sleek LED tail-lamps stretching the width of the car, sleek LED headlamps and a new interpretation of Audi's signature, single-frame hexagonal grille.
While the car is set to officially make its debut on July 11, the automaker has announced that the new A8 will also be featured in the upcoming Spiderman: Homecoming movie allowing people a sneak peek into the car prior to its official debut.
The all-new A8 will rival the likes of the soon-to-be-facelifted Mercedes S-class and the BMW 7-series when it goes on sale internationally towards the end of the year.
