Toyota has previewed a new concept of the Corolla - one of the brand’s longest-running and bestselling nameplates - weeks ahead of its debut in the metal at the Japan Mobility Show, set to kick off on October 30, 2025. Although the Corolla is available internationally in hatchback, estate and sedan forms, the teaser specifically featured the latter body style.

  1. Vertical LED headlights and wide light bars at the front and rear
  2. Performance specs and interior features were not revealed

New Toyota Corolla concept exterior details

Traditional ORVMs may hint at close to production status

Toyota Corolla concept exterior

Compared to the current-gen car, the 2025 Corolla concept marks a dramatic leap in exterior design. The anvil-shaped bumper, which is mostly sealed off, resembles that of newer Toyota cars. A wide light bar is also new, partitioning the boomerang-like DRLs (top) and vertical headlight units (bottom). The windshield gets a raked design, and prominent aerodynamic creases feature on the bonnet.

Unlike most concepts, the Toyota prototype features traditional outside rear-view mirrors, which may give an impression of being near production-ready. The alloy wheels are expected to have an all-new design, and while divots present on the doors add some visual flair, they may also help improve airflow.

As for the rear profile, the teaser showed a ducktail spoiler and pixel-like treatment for the slim tail-lights, as well as for the light bar that bridges them.

New Toyota Corolla concept powertrain

May come with a plug-in hybrid or all-electric setup

The Japanese car major didn’t reveal any specs, but a charging port flap on the Corolla concept’s front left fender suggests it’s either a plug-in hybrid or battery-electric model. In car markets like the UK, the Corolla is offered with a 140hp, 1.8-litre petrol-hybrid setup, and Toyota could be looking at an additional powertrain to increase its appeal. Toyota could also adopt a product strategy similar to the new Lexus ES, whose hybrid and electric versions have minor exterior design differences.
