Tata Motors is set to launch the new Sierra on November 25, 2025. The midsize SUV will slot right between the Curvv and Harrier in Tata’s portfolio and go against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara and Honda Elevate, among others. The ICE version is likely to arrive first, followed by its electric counterpart. Since the upcoming Sierra ICE will sit above the Curvv, we expect its ex-showroom price to start from Rs 11 lakh.

  1. New Sierra may debut Tata’s 1.5-litre TGDI engine
  2. 3-screen setup, ventilated seats and Level 2 ADAS expected

For those unaware, the Sierra nameplate was first introduced in 1991 and remained in production for a little over a decade before being discontinued.

2025 Tata Sierra powertrains

Petrol, diesel and electric

2025 Tata Sierra to launch on November 25

Tata Motors will offer the new Sierra in multiple powertrains: petrol, diesel and electric. The petrol SUV could debut the homegrown brand’s new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol (direct injection) engine showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. A naturally aspirated derivative of this 1.5-litre TGDI motor could power the entry-level Sierra variants. Tata might also carry over the Curvv’s 1.5-litre diesel engine in the Sierra. Battery, range and other details about the Sierra EV, which will rival models like the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV and Mahindra BE 6, are unclear at the moment.

2025 Tata Sierra design and features

19-inch alloy wheels, connected DRLs, 360-degree camera setup

Tata Sierra new vs old

Inspired by the old Sierra, the new SUV retains design elements such as the signature curved rear windows, boxy wheel arches and a tall bonnet. However, it now features a sharper roofline, shorter front and rear overhangs, and a more upright, slab-sided shape. The slim headlamp setup and connected daytime running lamps (DRLs) resemble those of the newer Tata cars. Wheel size has also been increased by 4 inches to 19 inches.

A Mahindra XEV 9e-like 3-screen setup, comprising a digital instrument cluster along with central and passenger-side touchscreens, is likely on the upcoming Sierra; each unit may measure 12.3 inches. Other expected features are a dual-tone dashboard, a 4-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, ambient lights, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless phone charger and ventilated front seats. On the safety front, the Sierra could feature six airbags, a 360-degree camera setup, electronic stability control and Level 2 ADAS. A high crash safety rating, like other Tata SUVs, is likely as well.
