BMW 530i M Sport launched in India at Rs 59.20 lakh

The new top-spec trim comes with a BS-VI compliant petrol engine; features exterior and interior updates.

BMW India has introduced a new 530i M Sport variant to the 5-Series sedan’s line up. The BMW 530i M Sport costs Rs 59.20 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India) and is the new range-topping petrol 5-Series. Prior to this, the M Sport trim was offered only on the 530d model.

The new 530i features BMW’s M Sport exterior package, which includes sportier front and rear bumpers with gloss black detailing on the kidney grille and fog lamp housing, an M aerodynamics package with side skirts and front and rear aprons, 18-inch M alloys, trapezoidal exhaust tips, M Sport brakes with blue calipers and M badging on the front fenders.

Inside, the 530i M Sport features sports seats with Dakota leather upholstery, Aluminium Rhombicle interior trim with pearl chrome highlights, dual-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, dynamic damper control and a 12.3-inch multi-functional instrument display. The new 530i is also tech-laden with features like wireless charging, park assist with a surround view camera, remote control parking, the BMW Display key and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, navigation, BMW apps and gesture control compatibility.

Under the hood, the 530i M Sport gets a BS-VI-compliant, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 252hp at 5,200rpm and 350Nm of torque at 1,450-4,800rpm. The engine sends power to the rear wheels via an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The M Sport also features five driving modes to choose from – Comfort, Eco Pro, Sport, Sport+ and Adaptive. 

In terms of safety, the new 530i gets 8 airbags, ABS with EBD, cornering brake control, dynamic stability control, dynamic traction control, attentiveness assistant, side impact protection, Isofix child seat mounts and three-point seatbelts for all five passengers.

Along with the 530i M Sport, the 5-series line up in India comprises of the 530i Sport Line (Rs 53.80 lakh), 520d Luxury Line (Rs 58.70 lakh) and 530d M Sport (Rs 66.20 lakh). The BMW 5-Series range rivals other luxury sedans like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, the Audi A6 and the Jaguar XF.
