The Sunday morning Mercedes fans in Mumbai await every year is almost upon us. It’s time for the fifth edition of the Mercedes-Benz Classic Car Rally, which will take place in Mumbai on December 9, 2018. The annual event was first organised in 2014, in partnership with Autocar India, to celebrate 120 years of Mercedes-Benz’s involvement in motorsport.

As most regulars know by now, present at the rally every year are a big collection of classic Mercedes cars, with some truly remarkable (and rare) examples making their presence felt. This year, with a change in format, there will only be a select number of cars, but they will all be some of the rarest, most exquisite models in India, all coming together for the first time.

Speaking about this year's edition, Perseus Bandrawalla, the curator of the rally said, "All the stars from the previous editions will be back. In fact, star cars from each of the previous editions of the rally will be at this year's show.”

On the list are a W08 Nurburg, a 300 SL Roadster, a 500K and a 300 ‘Adenauer’ limousine, to name a few. Also expected are rare 170V (W136) models in at least three different body styles, a rare sight anywhere in the world. Giving them company will be every classic generation of the E-class, S-class and the SL-class, and different body styles based on the same platform – so expect to see coupe, estate, convertible and sedan versions aplenty.

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz Classic Car Rally will flag off from Sofitel Mumbai in Bandra Kurla Complex, Bandra, and the cars will take the Bandra-Worli Sea Link and then return to the starting point. Make sure you find a neat vantage point from where you can catch the parade along the route!
