Along with the introduction of the Maruti Suzuki Victoris SUV, Maruti has revealed that the SUV has scored a 5-star safety rating in both adult and child occupant protection at Bharat NCAP. It has secured 31.66 points out of 32 in adult occupant protection and 43.00 points out of 49 in child occupant protection.

  1. BNCAP tested hybrid and petrol-AT variants of Victoris
  2. Was rated ‘OK’ for side pole impact test
  3. Comes equipped with six airbags, ESC as standard

Maruti Victoris adult occupant protection: 31.66/32

In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the Victoris scored 15.66 out of 16 points, losing out marks for adequate protection to the driver’s chest and knee. Head, neck and pelvis protection for the driver and protection for all body parts of the front passenger were rated good. In the side deformable barrier test, the Victoris scored full points (16/16) and was also rated ‘OK’ for the side pole impact test.

Maruti Victoris child occupant protection: 43/49

In the child occupant protection (COP) test, the Victoris scored 43 out of 49 points. It got full points in the dynamic test (24/24) and the CRS installation test (12/12) and 7 out of 13 in the vehicle assessment test. Both the 18-month-old and the 3-year-old child dummies were tested in rearward-facing child seats positioned in the rear outboard seats, secured by ISOFIX anchorages and a support leg. The Victoris, however, misses out on an integrated child restraint system.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris safety features

Bharat NCAP tested the top-spec ZX+ and ZX+(O) trims of the Victoris with the 1.5-litre strong-hybrid and 1.5-litre petrol-AT powertrains, but the safety rating is applicable for the entire range. As standard, the Victoris comes equipped with six airbags, 3-point seat belts with reminders for all passengers and ESC and ISOFIX anchors for rear outboard seats. The Victoris also complies with AIS-100 pedestrian protection norms, and is the first Maruti Suzuki to be offered with an ADAS suite on the top-spec trims.

Victoris is now among the Top 5 cars with highest BNCAP safety rating, with AOP scores less than only the Tata Harrier EV, Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e.
