The Fronx is the latest Maruti, among a raft of other models, including the Baleno, XL6 and the Ertiga, to be offered with six airbags as standard. With this, the Fronx sees a uniform price hike of Rs 4,000, except for the Delta+ petrol variants. Other standard safety features include ESP with hill hold, 3-point seatbelts with reminder for all passengers and Isofix anchorages. A reverse parking camera, however, is only offered from the second-from-top Zeta trim.

The Fronx is offered with two engine options – there’s a 90hp/113Nm 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol and a 100hp/147Nm 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol. A 5-speed manual gearbox is standard; the naturally aspirated petrol also gets an AMT option, while the turbo-petrol gets a torque converter automatic option. A factory-fitted CNG kit is also available on the base Sigma and Delta trims.

In April this year, Maruti Suzuki chairman RC Bhargava had said, “We will be having 6 airbags in all our cars by the end of this year.” As it stands, the Ignis is the only car from the Nexa line-up yet to be updated with six airbags, while the S-Presso is the only one left from the Arena portfolio. Expect both these models to receive this safety update soon.
