Datsun Go CVT launched at Rs 5.94 lakh

Datsun Go+ CVT priced from Rs 6.58 lakh. Automatic versions are available in two variants to choose from; powered by a 77hp, 1.2-litre petrol engine.

Datsun has launched the CVT-equipped versions of its Go hatchback and Go+ MPV, priced from Rs 5.94 lakh and Rs 6.58 lakh, respectively. The starting price for both models makes them the most affordable CVTs in India. The automatic versions can be had in two levels of trim – T and T(O).

The Go and Go+ CVT trims are both powered by the same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine that does duty in their manual counterparts. However, the automatics feature an uprated version of the engine that puts out a higher 77hp, as compared to the 68hp in the manuals. At 104Nm, the engine's torque output remains unchanged.

In their top-spec T(O) trims, the Datsuns come equipped with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rear washer/wiper, manual air conditioning, electrically adjustable ORVMs, LED DRLs and 14-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. As for safety features, they get Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) – which is a segment-first – dual airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, seat-belt reminders and rear parking sensors.

Bookings for the CVT units were opened last month for a sum of Rs 11,000 at any Datsun or Nissan dealer across the country.

As for the rivals, the Go competes with other hatchbacks like the Tata Tiago, Hyundai Santro and Maruti Suzuki Celerio, while the Go+’s closest competitor is the new Renault Triber.
