Questions you may find useful
Hi Autocar India, I am planning to buy an electric scooter or motorcycle for my daily office commute of around 60 km (1,200 km per month). My priorities are strong performance, comfort on bad roads, reliability, and good after-sales service. I currently ride a Bajaj Avenger Street 160 and would like my next vehicle to feel like an upgrade or at least offer comparable performance. My budget is ₹1.5-1.8 lakh, although I can stretch it for the right product. I like the Ultraviolette Tesseract, but the repeated delays make me unsure about waiting for it. Pillion comfort, spacious seating, and a reasonable seat height are important as I often ride with family. My previous two-wheelers included Activa, Shine, Unicorn, and Avenger, and if I were buying an ICE vehicle today, I would choose the TVS Ronin. Based on these requirements, which EV would you recommend?
Since you have a comfortable budget, our recommendation would be the TVS iQube S 4.7 / ST 5.3 variants, because they have big batteries which should comfortably help you cover multiple days' worth of riding on a single charge. The iQube is a proven, no-nonsense product from a big, reputed brand and TVS also has a widespread service network among EV scooters, which will matter more than spec-sheet numbers and feel-good farkles when you’ll use it every day. While the iQube's performance won't blow you away, its comfort, practicality and stress-free nature are sure to compensate for that.If performance is your number one priority and you can live with less comfort, the Ather 450S/450X are exciting options. However, given your long daily commutes, do bear in mind, it will demand serious commitment day after day, especially over bad roads. If you must have an electric motorcycle form at this budget, the Revolt RV400 is the most settled option, but neither its performance nor its range are attributes to write home about. The e-bike space is still very nascent and our recommendation today is to buy an electric scooter over them.
I am looking to buy the most comfortable scooter, preferably with the best suspension setup. My daily usage is around 10 km, and I am not very concerned about high power or top-class fuel efficiency. My budget is up to ₹2 lakh. Could you suggest the most comfortable scooter in this price range?
If you are looking for the best comfort on a petrol scooter, the TVS Jupiter 110 and Suzuki Access are the best options. The Jupiter has 12-inch wheels at both ends, which will also help round off bigger bumps more nicely. It's also got a winged preload adjuster, which will easily help you adjust preload when carrying a passenger and luggage. If you are looking for something in the EV space, then you should look at the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Vida VX2 Plus and Ather Rizta. These scooters have spacious riding positions, comfortable suspension setups and come from reputed manufacturers with widespread and proven service networks. Take a test ride of these scooters before you decide.
I am looking to buy a scooter for my dad. He is sixty years old and his main concerns are minimal vibration, low weight, easy handling, and comfortable suspension. My budget is ₹2 lakh. Can you suggest suitable scooters that meet these requirements?
In the ICE family scooter segment, machines like the TVS Jupiter 110 / 125 and Suzuki Access 125 are our current frontrunners in the comfort department, so we'd suggest starting there. The Jupiter, in particular, has some nifty USPs like a spacious underseat storage area and 12-inch wheels at both ends, which will aid convenience and stability, respectively. If you are open to getting an electric scooter, we'd advise checking out the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak and Ather Rizta models as they are reliable products from reputed companies which should last you a long time. Choose a variant with enough battery capacity to handle your daily needs.Take your father for a test ride of these scooters to see which one he finds the most manageable.
I want to buy an electric scooter for myself. My daily riding distance is 30–40 km, and the roads are good. I care about good handling, a smooth ride, and comfort. I’m considering the Vida VX2 Plus - is it a good choice?
The Vida VX2 Plus you have shortlisted is a good option from a proven player like Hero, and will be comfortable. Other options you can also look at are the TVS iQube 3.1 and the Bajaj Chetak 3001, because both are comfortable options from reputed manufacturers and will also serve you well.
I want to buy an EV scooter in the ₹1 to ₹1.25 lakh range with a real-world range of over 150 km. My daily commute is about 60 km. I prefer a model with low maintenance and easy service/repair. I was initially considering the Ola S1 X, but its service reputation is negative - so please suggest some strong alternatives.
Within your budget, there's no electric scooter with a battery big enough to fit your requirements. The options we would recommend looking at for you are the Bajaj Chetak 35 models, TVS iQube 3.5 or 5.3 variants and the Ather Rizta 3.7 duo. These options are quite a bit above your budget, so if you're open to a petrol scooter, you can consider the TVS Jupiter, Suzuki Access and Honda Activa models. Coming to the Ola S1X you're considering, even though it may be falling within your budget and look tempting on paper, please do not waste your hard-earned money on that product because the internet is flooded with horror stories that people have faced after buying Ola Electric products.
