Suzuki Access's underseat storage has grown from 21.8 litres in the outgoing generation to 24.4 litres in the current model, a change that runs through much of what makes this scooter's specification sheet noteworthy. The new front cubbies, however, are rather narrow, too tight to hold a 1-litre bottle.

The Access uses a single 124cc engine paired with a CVT automatic transmission across the entire range, meaning every model, from entry trim to top-spec trim, delivers identical performance. Autocar India's road test found the engine so smooth that even at 90kph there is no buzz through the floorboard or handlebar. Seat height is 773mm and kerb weight is around 105kg.

Wheel sizes are 12 inches up front and 10 inches at the rear. Autocar India's comparison testing noted that the smaller 10-inch rear wheel compromises stability at higher speeds and while cornering, feeling unnervingly vague when leaned over, a trade-off against the otherwise roomy floorboard and generous seat and underseat space.

I want to buy a powerful bike like the Duke 390 or one of the Royal Enfield 650s, but I do not have the budget right now. For the time being, I want to buy a bike or scooter that is smooth and vibration-free, as smoothness is my only major criterion. I feel the Suzuki Access 125 is the right choice. Do you have any better alternatives for me? I plan to use this scooter or bike for 5-8 years and then upgrade to the bike I love after saving up.

In the scooter space, the Suzuki Access is a great option because it has a turbine smooth engine, has cemented its reputation for reliability and is quite practical and comfortable too. You can also take a look at the TVS Jupiter models, which have the biggest boot on an Indian-made petrol scooter, as well as great ride and stability with their 12-inch wheels at both ends.Lastly, you can also take a look at the Honda Activa models, which are a safe bet, and you can't go wrong with either of them.

I am looking to buy the most comfortable scooter, preferably with the best suspension setup. My daily usage is around 10 km, and I am not very concerned about high power or top-class fuel efficiency. My budget is up to ₹2 lakh. Could you suggest the most comfortable scooter in this price range?

If you are looking for the best comfort on a petrol scooter, the TVS Jupiter 110 and Suzuki Access are the best options. The Jupiter has 12-inch wheels at both ends, which will also help round off bigger bumps more nicely. It's also got a winged preload adjuster, which will easily help you adjust preload when carrying a passenger and luggage. If you are looking for something in the EV space, then you should look at the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Vida VX2 Plus and Ather Rizta. These scooters have spacious riding positions, comfortable suspension setups and come from reputed manufacturers with widespread and proven service networks. Take a test ride of these scooters before you decide.

I am looking to buy a scooter for my dad. He is sixty years old and his main concerns are minimal vibration, low weight, easy handling, and comfortable suspension. My budget is ₹2 lakh. Can you suggest suitable scooters that meet these requirements?

In the ICE family scooter segment, machines like the TVS Jupiter 110 / 125 and Suzuki Access 125 are our current frontrunners in the comfort department, so we'd suggest starting there. The Jupiter, in particular, has some nifty USPs like a spacious underseat storage area and 12-inch wheels at both ends, which will aid convenience and stability, respectively. If you are open to getting an electric scooter, we'd advise checking out the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak and Ather Rizta models as they are reliable products from reputed companies which should last you a long time. Choose a variant with enough battery capacity to handle your daily needs.Take your father for a test ride of these scooters to see which one he finds the most manageable.

I am 35 years old and planning to buy a scooter or bike with a budget of ₹1.5 lakh. I typically travel about 25-30 km daily. I have existing back pain, so good suspension is my primary requirement. Please suggest suitable scooter or bike options.

Considering you have some back pain, we would recommend you stick with a motorcycle as the big wheels, longer-travel suspension and neutral riding ergonomics will keep you shielded from road imperfections. Inside your budget, we would recommend 125cc bikes like the Honda Shine 125, Hero Super Splendor / Glamour models, TVS Raider 125 and Hero Xtreme 125R. Depending on the sort of style you are after, you can choose between any of these. Since you have asked us about a scooter, our current top picks are the TVS Jupiter 110, Suzuki Access and Honda Activa 125. While the scooters will be more practical, they will not be as ultra comfortable as a motorcycle over bigger bumps. Take an exhaustive test ride before you decide.

I’m a student with a part-time job and I’m looking at 125 cc scooter models. I need something affordable, fuel-efficient, and with a good ride quality in hill stations. Could someone suggest the best scooter for me?

The most fuel-efficient scooters in the 125cc space in our tests have been the Yamaha RayZR and Fascino models. Both are mechanically and feature-wise exactly the same, with only different bodywork and styling separating the two. Some other proven and reliable options to consider are the Suzuki Access, Honda Activa and TVS Jupiter models - these are also practical, fuel-efficient, reliable and comfortable scooters with widespread service networks.
