I am a bit confused about choosing between the Suzuki Access and the Honda Activa 125. I have test-ridden both, and each has a different character in terms of smoothness, pickup and comfort. Could you please suggest which one I should choose, especially if I am looking for a scooter that remains smooth, comfortable and vibration-free over long-term ownership?

Both the Honda Activa 125 and Suzuki Access are excellent options when it comes to engine smoothness and longevity, so picking between the two will be a personal decision, rather than comparing any specifications on paper. These scooters are proven commodities which are likely to provide hassle-free long-term ownership, so pick the machine that you are leaning towards. Also see which brand has a dealer/service touchpoint near your residence, this will ensure you are near to an authorised mechanic in case you need service or repair support.Since you seem like someone who will keep the vehicle for the long run, we'd recommend you take a look at the ABS-equipped top two variants of the Suzuki Access, as that will be a valuable feature, especially given the unpredictable nature of our roads.

I am a 47-year-old male (5 ft 9 in, 85 kg) looking to buy a long-term, reliable, strong and powerful scooter. My daily city commute is about 15-20 km, and my budget is up to ₹1.5 lakh. I am currently considering the TVS Ntorq 150, TVS Jupiter 125, Suzuki Access 125 and Honda Activa 125. Are there any other scooters I should consider? Please advise.

The TVS Ntorq 150 is the most powerful scooter in your shortlist, and it will also be the most fun to ride. It is also the most feature-packed, with a TFT display, Bluetooth connectivity, riding modes and a host of other features. The TVS Jupiter 125 is a more practical option, with plush ride quality and a huge 33-litre underseat storage space. The Suzuki Access 125 is a family scooter with peppy performance that should be very reliable and fuel-efficient, too. The Honda Activa 125 doesn't have any one standout feature, but is a proven package you can't really go wrong with.Take a test ride of all four so you can pick the one that best suits your needs.

I am planning to buy a 125cc scooter. I already own the new Suzuki Access. Should I go with the Honda Activa 125? What other scooters would you recommend? It will mostly be used within the city.

Since you already have a steadfast family scooter in the Suzuki Access 125, opting for another one of its ilk in the Honda Activa 125, which will give you more or less a very similar, if not identical, ownership experience, would be like going into a huge candy store and still opting to buy two of the same toffees when there's so much variety to be had. We'd recommend you change things up a little and opt for the TVS Ntorq 125. It is a fun, engaging, and sporty-feeling scooter, yet it does not compromise on practicality, comfort, or everyday convenience.

Upgrading from an Activa to a Meteor 350 as a first-time gear rider (5'6" height). Am I making the right choice? Hey everyone, I’ve been riding a Honda Activa for the past seven years and drive a car daily, so I have good road sense and balance. However, I’ve never ridden a motorcycle with a clutch before. I’m 5'6" and considering upgrading to the Royal Enfield Meteor 350. The low seat height feels perfect for flat-footing, but the 191 kg weight is a little intimidating, especially coming from a 100 kg scooter. For those who’ve made a similar jump or are around my height, how difficult was the learning curve when it came to using the clutch and managing the weight in traffic? Any tips for making the transition easier?

For anyone transitioning from a CVT scooter to a geared motorcycle, the initial period can be a little challenging. However, once you adapt to the system, it will almost become second nature, and there won’t be much to worry about.Going from a Honda Activa to a Royal Enfield Meteor 350 will certainly require some adjustment, given the significant difference in weight between the two machines. However, once on the move, the Meteor’s weight tends to fade into the background, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to manage. The Meteor also gets a slip-and-assist clutch, which makes the clutch action pleasingly light and should make the transition easier.

I want to buy an EV two-wheeler for my daughter after six months for local city usage in Chennai. She will turn 18 years old at that time. I have been using a Honda Unicorn for the past 10 years and am happy with it. I may also use the EV vehicle occasionally once I buy it. Can you suggest which EV vehicle or brand would be the best and most reliable? I have Ather, iQube, and Bajaj Chetak in mind, along with a few other EVs I have seen on the road but am not very familiar with. Or would you suggest going for a petrol vehicle instead? If an EV is not suitable, I am open to buying a petrol vehicle as well.

The options you have shortlisted in the EV space are a great place to start, and if you want a simple, no-nonsense EV, the TVS iQube is one of our top picks in the class. Depending on your daily use case, choose a variant with sufficient battery capacity, keeping some margin for spontaneity and emergencies. If you are still unsure about moving to an electric two-wheeler, in the ICE scooter space, options like the Honda Activa 110 / 125, TVS Jupiter 110 / 125 and Suzuki Access 125 are our top recommendations. These are easy to get on with, lightweight and frugal machines which are practical and reliable to own as well.
