At the recent Yezdi Roadster launch, we caught up with Classic Legends co-founder Anupam Thareja, who shared that the company is making significant changes to the Yezdi Scrambler.
- Big weight loss on the cards
- Will get revised suspension
- Likely to move to a single-exhaust setup
New Yezdi Scrambler launch
The bike is expected to go on sale in a couple of months
Classic Legends has been on a spree of updated models, and following from the new Yezdi Adventure and Yezdi Roadster, the company still has the Yezdi Scrambler remaining. This updated bike is expected to launch within the next couple of months. Unlike the Adventure and Roadster, the new Yezdi Scrambler is expected to receive more significant mechanical changes.
Yezdi Scrambler weight reduction
Thareja states that the company is targeting significant weight loss
While both the Yezdi Adventure and Roadster have not seen significant weight changes with their updates, the story will be different with the Scrambler. Classic Legends is now looking at making this a more purposeful and exciting motorcycle, and the biggest step in that direction will be in the form of weight loss. The company’s target is in the region of 15-20kg, and if they manage to pull it off, it will be a huge change on a bike that currently weighs 192kg.
Yezdi Scrambler new engine
The bike will move to the new Alpha 2 engine, but it could gain more updates
We have learned that part of that weight loss will be achieved by moving to a single-exhaust setup, as on the Yezdi Adventure. Additionally, the engine itself is likely to see significant weight savings. The Yezdi Scrambler will move to the same 334cc Alpha 2 engine that debuted in the new Jawa 350 and has subsequently found its way to bikes like the Jawa 42 FJ, Yezdi Adventure and Yezdi Roadster. However, the Scrambler could debut with more significant changes to this engine, and it remains to be seen if the power and torque figures rise above the current 29hp/29Nm ballpark in all the bikes that currently use it.
What we do know is that it will have a revised sprocket setup and is likely to be the quickest-accelerating and most aggressive of the 334cc bikes from Classic Legends.
Yezdi Scrambler suspension
The bike will get a revised suspension for 2025
Harsh rear suspension was one of the biggest criticisms of the current-gen Yezdi Scrambler. We have learnt that the company will be revising the Scrambler’s suspension, and it will be interesting to see if it moves to a monoshock setup by adopting the frame from the Yezdi Adventure. This would further help with the company’s goal of drastic weight reduction.
