Yamaha R3 and MT03 cornering shot on highway

Every two-wheeler brand in India has been revising the prices of its products following the recent Goods and Services Tax (GST) overhaul, and favourably so for bikes and scooters under the 350cc threshold. Yamaha Motor India had updated the prices of nearly its entire line-up, except for the R3 and MT-03. Pricing for these models has finally been updated on the Yamaha India website, with the bikes getting more affordable by around Rs 20,000.

  1. Yamaha R3 costs Rs 3.39 lakh now and MT-03 Rs 3.30 lakh
  2. Both use the same 321cc twin-cyl engine, making 42hp and 29.5Nm of torque
  3. R3 and MT-03 come to India as completely built units (CBUs)

Yamaha R3 and MT03 get price cut of Rs 20,000

Both fall under the 350cc mark and are eligible for lower GST rates

Yamaha’s R3 and MT-03 have received a price cut of around Rs 20,000. The R3 was earlier priced at Rs 3.60 lakh and the MT-03 at Rs 3.50 lakh. The new prices are as follows:

Prices with new GST rates
Model
Price (ex-showroom)
Yamaha R3
Rs 3,39,028
Yamaha MT-03
Rs 3,29,608

At the time of launch, the R3 and MT-03 were met with a tepid market reaction owing to their rather high asking prices. In response, Yamaha Motor India slashed their prices by over Rs 1 lakh, which gave prospective buyers some relief. Now, the government’s recent GST cut on sub-350cc bikes has come as further good news to those eyeing either the R3 or MT-03.

While all of that is well and good, it does bear mentioning that the bikes on sale in India as of the publishing of this piece are older models, and Yamaha had revealed the latest-spec R3 and MT-03 internationally late last year. Currently, there’s no word on whether or when these latest models will make it to our country, and those looking to get one of Yamaha’s sweet 321cc models should make a beeline to their nearest Blue Square dealership.

All prices ex-showroom, Delhi.
