Yamaha R3 and MT-03 price cut, features, power

Yamaha's flagship motorcycles in India, the R3 and MT-03, have received a substantial price cut of up to Rs 1.10 lakh.

  1. R3, MT-03 come to India as CBUs
  2. Both share most of their mechanicals
  3. Both are priced closer to their rivals now

The Yamaha R3 was previously priced at Rs 4.65 lakh, but with the price cut, it is now available for Rs 3.60 lakh. At its new price, it undercuts the Rs 4.20 lakh Aprilia RS 457 and is positioned closer to the Rs 3.43 lakh Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the Rs 3.21 lakh KTM RC 390. Meanwhile, the MT-03 sees an even larger Rs 1.10 lakh reduction, repositioning it to a more digestible Rs 3.50 lakh price tag. The MT-03’s chief rivals are the Rs 3.13 lakh KTM 390 Duke and the upcoming Aprilia Tuono 457, which is expected to be priced around Rs 4 lakh.

Yamaha R3, MT-03 prices slashed by up to Rs 1.10 lakh

The R3 and MT-03 are mechanically identical, and the differences come down to their design and the way the rider sits on each bike. This price reduction is likely down to the fact that, owing to their rather optimistic initial prices, Yamaha hasn’t been able to achieve the sales it had hoped for with its 321cc duo in India. The new prices will take effect from February 1, 2025.
