At EICMA 2025, Hero showcased a bunch of cool and interesting electric concept vehicles under its Vida sub-brand, one of which was an electric supermoto called the Ubex. Now, the company has patented what seems to be the production-spec version of that bike.

When the Vida Ubex concept was shown to the world last year, it had some distinctive elements like a sharp front beak, a hollow section separating the seat from the bottom of the rear subframe, some cladding over its main frame and an exposed trellis swingarm. Some of those elements have now been sacrificed for the production-spec model, which seems to have been patented.
For instance, the angular front beak and the chunky USD fork have gone away, replaced by a more conventional headlight with a projector beam and a right-way-up telescopic fork. Even the hollow section between the seat and the subframe is no longer there, making way for a stepped single-piece seat and a more mainstream-looking subframe with a pillion grab rail.
Some elements such as the trellis swingarm, the layered bodywork over the main frame and the distinctive five-spoke alloy wheels remain, reminiscent of the original Ubex concept. Unlike some high-end electric bikes that use the battery pack as the frame, the production-spec Vida Ubex has a separate trellis frame to which that neat-looking swingarm appears to bolt.
Other visible parts on the Ubex are fairly straightforward, with a single disc brake at either end – suggesting a manageable power output – and it seems that the motor has been integrated into a single piece that will also house the battery. Power is sent to the rear wheel via a chain drive. Specifications and features are still unknown, but going by the overall size and intent of the Ubex, it seems like the bike could have a range number that could potentially allow you to break free of urban confines.
With Bajaj, TVS and Royal Enfield (with its Flying Flea EVs) already readying their electric motorcycle offerings, Hero too seems to be working hard behind the scenes to make sure its products are ready for when the market matures and electric motorcycles find their footing. This patent filing indicates that the Vida Ubex is nearing completion, although it remains to be seen when it makes its way into showrooms. Vida is also working with American electric motorcycle maker Zero on a jointly developed electric bike called the VXZ, whose design has also been patented in our country.
