After releasing multiple teasers, TVS has finally launched the X at Rs 2.50 lakh. At this price, the X is the most expensive electric scooter on sale in India currently.

  1. First electric scooter to get single-channel ABS
  2. Maximum peak power of 11kW
  3. Design similar to Creon concept

Powering the X is a 4.4kWh battery that has an IDC range of 140km, which is nestled with a twin-spar frame suspended by a telescopic fork and a monoshock. The battery pack can be charged with either the Smart X Home rapid charger, which can top it up from 0-50 percent in 50 minutes (optional add-on 3kW fast charger) or using the 950W portable charger that takes 4hr30min to go from 0 to 80 percent. The cost of the portable charger is Rs 16,275 (including GST).

The PMSM motor on the X is rated for 11kW of peak power (7kW of continuous power) and 40Nm of peak torque. Braking is handled by a 220mm disc up front and a 195mm disc at the rear. One novel feature on the X is the presence of ABS (albeit a single-channel system), making it the first e-scooter to do so. The X runs on 12-inch wheels with a chunky 100-section tyre up front and a 110-section hoop at the rear.

The TVS X is built on TVS’ XLETON platform and gets a maxi-style format, although at 770mm seat height is very approachable. A unique feature here is that the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) motor is ram-air cooled and TVS claims the X can go from a standing start to 40kph in just 2.6s and has a top speed of 105kph. There are three riding modes – Xtealth, Xtride, Xonic; regenerative braking is also on offer, with different levels to choose from.

The TVS X gets a 10.25-inch TFT dash that can be adjusted to any angle to suit the rider better. This huge dash has a whole host of features, including Bluetooth connectivity enabling music playback and navigation alerts. In fact, if you’re stationary, you can watch videos or play games on the dash if you so choose using the PlayTech entertainment system. The X also gets reverse assist, cruise control as well as a hill-hold function.

Styling is quite radical and resembles the well-received Creon concept from Auto Expo 2018. The most notable thing here is that the X doesn't get a floorboard and instead the spine of the frame takes up that space. The X also gets a split-seat setup, which is rarely seen on a scooter. And speaking of storage space, the underseat area measures 19 litres in capacity.

At Rs 2.50 lakh, the TVS X is the most expensive e-scooter on sale today and doesn’t get the benefit of the FAME-II subsidy. Bookings begin tonight and deliveries of the TVS X are slated to begin in November 2023, first in Bengaluru and then all over India by March 2024. The first 2,000 owners will get a Smartwatch and a ‘Curated Concierge’ package free, worth Rs 18,000.

All prices ex-showroom, Bengaluru.
