The newly launched TVS Ronin is offered in three variants – SS, DS and TD – all of which are mechanically near-identical to each other. The main difference between the variants stems from different connectivity options, colour schemes and cosmetic touches.

TVS Ronin SS: Rs 1.49 lakh

The most affordable variant of the Ronin, the SS, is available in two single-tone paint schemes with two colours to choose from, black and red. It gets non-adjustable levers and single-channel ABS. Visually, there are a few different touches to components such as the seat, muffler guard as well as the omission of decals found on other variants. This is the only variant of the Ronin to get a black finish on its front fork and connectivity options aren’t available. Pricing for the SS stands at Rs 1.49 lakh.

TVS Ronin DS: Rs 1.58 lakh

The DS comes with two dual-tone colour schemes on offer. This is the only variant of the Ronin to get an all-black seat and a silver headlamp rim finish. Like the top-spec TD, the DS gets a golden finish on the front fork as well. Non-adjustable levers and single-channel ABS are carried over from the base SS variant. The DS is priced at Rs 1.58 lakh.

TVS Ronin TD: Rs 1.69 lakh

This range-topping variant is the only one in the Ronin line-up to get dual-channel ABS as well as 3-step adjustable levers. The dual-channel ABS on offer brings a 1kg increase in the TD’s kerb weight (SS and DS variants both weigh 159kg). The TD is also the only variant to get Bluetooth connectivity with voice assist and turn-by-turn navigation. The top-spec TD variant comes in two colour options, with the grey colour option priced at Rs 1.69 lakh and the orange one retailing for Rs 1.71 lakh.

TVS Ronin: Common underpinnings across variants

The three variants of the Ronin share the same engine, basic chassis, suspension and braking components, as well as the 14-litre fuel tank.

The Ronin is powered by an all-new 225.9cc air- and-oil-cooled, 4-valve, single-cylinder engine making 20.4hp at 7,750rpm and 19.93Nm at 3,750rpm. Unlike the one found on the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V with which the Ronin engine shares its basic architecture, the focus here is tractability and torque in the low and mid-range. Two riding modes are on offer, Rain and Urban, altering throttle response and braking. Mated to this engine is a 5-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch.

The chassis housing the torque-focused engine is a double cradle frame, suspended by components derived from another TVS offering, the Apache RR310. The 41mm fork and 7-step preload adjustable shock is similiar to the unit found on the Apache RR310, although the internals have been tweaked to suit the easy-going nature of the Ronin.

The 9-spoke alloy wheels riding on bespoke block-pattern tubeless Remora tyres with sizes of 110/70-17 at the front and 130/70-17 at the rear are identical across all three variants. The braking components are shared as well, with a 300mm disc at the front and a 240mm disc at the rear.

All LED lighting, a silent-start system, as well as TVS’ GTT (Glide Through Technology), which prevents stalling in low-speed scenarios, are standard across all variants of the Ronin. A USB charger can be purchased as an accessory for all three variants of the Ronin.

All prices mentioned are ex-showroom, Delhi.
