India’s four largest electric two-wheeler manufacturers – TVS, Bajaj, Ather and Vida – have collectively crossed the 1 million (10 lakh) retail sales mark in the first eight months of 2026. The combined sales figure of 10,38,973 units represents 84 percent growth over the 5,65,635 units these four brands sold in the same period last year. Crucially, this number already exceeds their combined full-year tally of 9,22,824 units from 2025 by over 1.16 lakh units, with four months still to go in the calendar year.

January to August 2026 electric two-wheeler sales breakdown
TVS Motor Co: 3,56,579 units
TVS Motor Company retains the top spot with 3,56,579 units in the first eight months – a 77 percent year-on-year (YoY) increase – giving it a 26 percent share of India’s electric two-wheeler (e2W) market. TVS has already surpassed its full 2025 tally of 3,15,082 units by over 41,000 units. Its best month this year was July, when it delivered 55,823 units, marking the highest monthly figure ever recorded by any electric two-wheeler manufacturer in India.
Bajaj Auto: 3,05,226 units
Bajaj Auto sold 3,05,226 units of the Chetak in the first eight months, up 69 percent YoY, giving it a 22 percent market share. It also became the second manufacturer after TVS to cross 3 lakh electric scooter sales in a single calendar year. Its highest monthly figure was 47,753 units in March.
Ather Energy: 2,29,099 units
Ather delivered 2,29,099 units in the first eight months, up 83 percent YoY, capturing a 17 percent market share – up from 15 percent a year ago. The Rizta continues to be the primary volume driver alongside the 450 range. Ather launched the Konarc last week, with prices starting at Rs 99,999, and the model is expected to significantly accelerate volumes in the months ahead. August sales of 28,708 units were up 49 percent from the year-ago period.
Vida: 1,48,069 units
Vida’s sales surged 151 percent year-on-year to 1,48,069 units in the first eight months – the highest growth rate among the four brands – giving it an 11 percent market share, up from 7 percent a year ago. The VX2 Go and Plus models, aided by the Battery-as-a-Service pricing option, have been the key volume drivers. July was Hero Vida’s best-ever month with 22,989 units; August sales of 18,978 units were up 38 percent YoY.
The broader electric two-wheeler segment has sold 1.36 million units in the first eight months of 2026, and the segment remains on course to achieve the 2 million units a year milestone for the first time.
