Is the Apache RTR 200 4V not racy enough for you? Don’t worry – TVS thinks so, too! That’s exactly why it has taken the wraps off a new generation of its RTR 200 range – the Race Edition 2.0. As part of this update, the RTR gets an A-RT (anti-reverse torque) slipper clutch, new decals and a prominent fly screen (as seen on the ethanol-fuelled concept motorcycle TVS displayed at Auto Expo 2018).

The RTR 200 4V Race Edition 2.0 will, like the outgoing model, be available in three variants – Carburettor (Rs 95,185), Fuel injection (Rs 1,07,885) and Carburettor with ABS (Rs 1,08,985; all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). This is impressive pricing – an increment of roughly Rs 1,200, per model –  considering the older RTR (which didn’t get a slipper clutch) was priced at Rs 93,865 (Carburettor), Rs 1,06,385 (EFI) and Rs 1,07,485 (Carburettor w/ABS).

Like before, Pirelli tyres are optional on each of the models and going by the tariff on the older model, should be available at an extra cost of roughly Rs 6,000.

To expand for the curious amongst you, the Anti-Reverse Torque slipper clutch is no different to a conventional slipper clutch. The slipper clutch's function is to limit back-torque; it is, in fact, also known as a ‘back-torque limiter clutch’. TVS claims the slipper clutch has brought about a 22 percent reduction in clutch force which ensures quicker up-shifts, in addition to cancelling out wheel-hopping and aiding stability – the known merits of a slipper clutch mechanism. Reduced clutch effort while crawling through city traffic is an added bonus.
