The KLX230 that came in via the CKD route was always an expensive proposition. It was earlier priced at Rs 2.99 lakh, effectively costing upwards of 4 lakhs (on-road, Mumbai). After GST 2.0 implementation its on-road cost dropped to Rs 3.70 lakh. Now a reputed Kawasaki dealership in Mumbai is offering year-end benefits worth Rs 81,000. Effectively you can have the CKD version for Rs 2.99 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) with 2 years AMC or Rs 2.90 lakh without AMC.
The India-made KLX230 is still sold alongside the CKD version and is not subjected to any discount or benefits. We have been led to believe that there are very limited units of this CKD variant and this discount is valid till December 31 or until stocks last. Post this, the CKD version will not be on-sale and only the India-made KLX230 – that’s much more affordable – will be on-sale and these are the final few remaining units.
