River has rolled out the latest iteration of its electric scooter, the Indie Gen 3, bringing a host of upgrades aimed at improving usability and tech integration. It has been listed on the brand’s website at a price of Rs 1.46 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru).

  1. Indie Gen 3 gets better tyres and display
  2. Adds new app features and hill-hold assist
  3. River expands to 34 stores, targets 80 outlets by March 2026

River Indie Gen 3: What’s new?

Riding dynamics tweaked; scooter continues to boast 43 litres of underseat storage

The Indie Gen 3 brings upgraded tyres for better grip, a redesigned display with clearer range and charging information, and improved app connectivity offering ride statistics, real-time charging status and customisable data points. Hill-hold assist has been added as well, and River claims that the riding dynamics have been tweaked based on rider feedback.

The scooter continues to boast a huge 43 litres of underseat storage that has long been its USP, along with 12 litres of glove box space. It is available in five colour options with contrasting black accents.

Performance, however, remains unchanged. The scooter continues to use a 4kWh battery with a claimed IDC range of 163km. Its motor has a peak power of 6.7kW, good for a top speed of 90kph. River claims that it takes about five hours to charge from 0 to 80 percent. Braking is handled by discs at both ends with a combined braking system

River expands in the northern region

The new scooter was unveiled at River’s first Delhi store in Rajouri Garden, which will serve as the company’s northern hub. With this, River now has 34 outlets across India in cities such as Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Kochi, Coimbatore, Patna and Hubli. The Bengaluru-based startup plans to expand to 80 stores by March 2026, with upcoming showrooms in Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, thereby expanding its presence across middle and northern India.
