Today's big news from Ola Electric is the launch of its new entry-level product, the S1 X. In addition to this though, it has also rolled out the second-gen S1 Pro, which is priced at Rs 1.48 lakh. The second-gen S1 Pro is built on the same Gen 2 platform that the new S1 X and S1 Air are based on.

  1. More power, higher claimed top speed
  2. Small increase in range claims
  3. Moves from single-sided suspension to conventional fork

Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 power and performance

Being built on the new platform, the company says it features a number of improvements over its debut product. The motor is one area of change – where it previously produced 5.5kW continuous and 8.5kW of peak output, it now makes 5kW continuous and 11kW peak output. As a result, the claimed top speed has risen from 116kph to 120kph, and the claimed 0-40kph acceleration time has dropped from 2.9 seconds to 2.6 seconds.

Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 range

Though its battery capacity remains the same, at 4kWh, Ola says it has made improvements to the battery pack as well as efficiency, and as a result, range numbers have seen a slight increase. Certified range has risen from 181km to 195km, and true range in Eco mode has gone up from 170km to 180km. Charging time, however, remains the same – 0-100 percent at 6.5 hours.

Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 underpinnings

There are also chassis changes that are part of the Gen 2 update, including the move from the single-sided front suspension to a conventional telescopic fork. The new frame also means that the spine section has disappeared and you now get a flat floorboard, as well as a slight weight reduction from 121kg to 116kg. The one negative here is that boot space has dropped by 2 litres, but the 34-litre boot is still seriously large.

Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 price, deliveries

The second-gen S1 Pro Rs 1.48 lakh price is Rs 8,000 more than the first-gen machine. Bookings are open from today, with deliveries slated to begin from mid-September, as per Ola.

All prices ex-showroom, Bengaluru, after FAME-2 subsidy
