New TVS scooter teased ahead of February 5 launch

TVS has released a new teaser video of its upcoming scooter that is set to launch on February 5, 2018. We’ve seen multiple images of the scooter out testing and it appears to follow the design language set by the edgy Graphite concept shown at the Auto Expo 2014.

From the spy images that have emerged so far, we can tell that the scooter will feature a petal front disc, telescopic front suspension, a stylised exhaust end-can and what appears to be sporty and angular bodywork with split, rear grab rails. TVS’ latest teaser video reveals that the scooter will feature an LED tail-lamp and it also hints at a sporty exhaust note. In fact, it’s hard to tell that this is a scooter engine at start-up, thanks to a strong beat, but what gives it away is the tell-tale whine of a CVT gearbox that becomes audible as the engine revs up in the video.

We believe the new scooter will house TVS’s first 125cc scooter engine. This will help TVS position the scooter against the new Honda Grazia as well as the Suzuki Access. Going by the expected youthful styling of the TVS, it is likely to be a closer rival to the Honda than the Suzuki. The upcoming Aprilia SR125, which is expected to debut at the Auto Expo 2018, will also be a rival. Expect a price tag between Rs 55-60,000.
