Royal Enfield has posted sales figures of 1,135 units for the Meteor 350 in the UK between January and July 2022, overtaking the BMW R 1250 GS and becoming the bestselling bike above 125cc. The motorcycle is manufactured at Royal Enfield’s plant in Chennai.

The big Bavarian adventure tourer has been a perennial favourite in the overseas market but the simple, easy-going cruiser from Royal Enfield has managed to dethrone it. The Meteor 350 was the first model from Royal Enfield to feature the brand-new J-series engine. Two more models followed soon after, in the form of Royal Enfield's bestseller, the Classic 350, and the nimble neo-retro roadster, the Hunter 350. In all these machines, the engine makes identical output figures – 20.2hp and 27Nm of torque.

This isn't the first time a Royal Enfield has been at the top of the UK sales charts, with the Interceptor 650 being the previous model from the iconic marque to do so. A new Continental GT 650 test mule was spotted testing with alloy wheels, which hints that a major update is on the way for the 650 twins.
