Ducati Scrambler 1100 discontinued in India

The Ducati Scrambler 1100 has recently been delisted from the brand’s official website and discontinued globally, likely due to the aging engine and the impending implementation of stricter Euro 5+ emission norms.

  1. Ducati Scrambler 1100 produced a peak output of 86hp and 88Nm
  2. It had a last recorded price starting from Rs 13.40 lakh to 16 lakh

The Scrambler range now only consists of the 803cc Scrambler models

The Ducati Scrambler 1100 was launched back in 2018– a year after the Scrambler 800 was first launched. It has been discontinued after 8 years of being on sale and this is largely owing to the onset of stringent Euro 5+ emission norms and the aging engine.

Although the Ducati Scrambler 1100 debuted back in 2018, its 1079cc L-twin engine has been around since 2009, originally nestled within the original Hypermotard and the Monster 1100. This engine was later heavily repurposed and extensively reworked for the Scrambler 1100, with updates such as an oil-cooling system, ride-by-wire technology to introduce rider modes and safety aids, and a thorough engine re-tuning to match the Scrambler's intended purpose along with Euro 4 compliance. While the specific engine variant in the Scrambler 1100 debuted in 2018, its foundation dates back over 15 years.

One major point of contention for the Scrambler 1100 was its pricing, which occupied an odd-ball position in the market. Its last recorded ex-showroom price ranged from Rs 13.40 lakh to Rs 16 lakh. While the Scrambler 1100 didn’t have a direct competitor, as it was more of a lifestyle product targeting a niche audience, the high price point raised expectations for a higher power output— something that the competition in its price range offered.

This engine displaced the aforementioned 1079cc, producing 86hp and 88Nm, being mated to a six speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch.

While the Scrambler 1100 has been de-listed off the Indian website, Ducati has confirmed that it has been discontinued globally. It remains to be seen how Ducati proceeds with reshaping the Scrambler lineup and whether it will now be restricted to just the 803cc engine
