After silently listing it on its official website, Bajaj has revealed the price of the Avenger 220 Street. Launched at Rs 1.29 lakh, it commands a premium of over Rs 1,200 over the Avenger 220 Cruise.

  3. The 220 Street is 3kg heavier than the 220 Cruise

Avenger 220 Street launched: What’s new?

The Street suffix isn’t new to the Avenger family. The Avenger Street was earlier available with a smaller 160cc engine, but Bajaj discontinued that model recently and silently listed this larger displacement 220 Street without revealing its prices. Now, the brand has launched it at Rs 1.29 lakh, a premium of Rs 1,200 over the 220 Cruise.

Here’s what’s different about the Street suffix compared to the Cruise

Firstly, the Street comes with a set of tubeless alloy wheels that adds to its practicality quotient as opposed to wire-spoke tubed tyres on the 220 Cruise. However, the tyre sizes remain unchanged, with a 90/130-section (F/R) setup. The headlight is also quite different, with the Street getting a horizontal DRL at the bottom.

The low 737mm seat height has always been approachable for newer riders, and it remains unchanged on the 220 Street. The handlebar is relatively flatter and placed lower than the 220 Cruise, but the footpeg position remains identical. The 220 Street comes with a smaller wind-deflector as opposed to the tall windscreen on the 220 Cruise. Lastly, the former also gets fork gaiters and a blacked-out finish across the engine and exhaust system. At 163kg (kerb), the 220 Street is heavier by 3kg compared to the 220 Cruise.

The engine is shared with the Cruise and is powered by a 220cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine that produces 19hp and 17.5Nm, mated to a 5-speed gearbox. It is available in two colour options: Ebony Black and Cocktail Wine Red.

What do you think about the push for ethanol blends even higher than E20 petrol?

Good move; it cuts dependence on crude oil imports
I support it as it’s a greener solution than pure petrol
I’ll accept it only if it’s cheaper than E20 petrol
I am concerned about damage to my vehicle
Not good; fuel efficiency will drop even further
