New Ather Energy plant to cater to increasing demand

Ather Energy has been slowly and steadily expanding its presence in the electric scooter space, and the new plant at Hosur is built to cater to the increasing demand. The company currently has a presence in 27 cities across 15 states and expects to increase its footprint to 40 cities by the end of 2021.

The new Ather factory has an annual capacity of 1,10,000 scooters and 1,20,000 battery packs. This facility will serve as the national manufacturing hub for the company.

This should come as music to the ears of those who have been waiting for their Ather 450X and Ather 450 Plus for some months. In fact, the company is confident of delivering an Ather 450X within a month of the customer booking one.

At present, the new Ather Energy factory produces the Ather 450X and 450 Plus scooter. The company says that, apart from the cells used in the battery pack, the rest of the scooter is manufactured using locally sourced components. So, in effect, 90 percent of the scooter is localised.

Eco-friendly Ather Energy plant

Ather Energy says that the plant generates zero effluents, which helps in reducing the environmental impact of running a production facility; all e-wastes are being handled by authorised recyclers.
