Ather Energy recently revealed that its 450 electric scooter had received FAME II certification and as a result, its on-road price in Bengaluru went down by Rs 5,000. The scooter that now costs Rs 1.23 lakh also got its warranty period extended from two years to three years, to meet one of the requirements to get the FAME II certification.

The electric scooter manufacturer took to Twitter to announce that it didn’t only extend the warranty period for its new scooters, but old ones as well, as it “only seemed fair”. We also recently learned that Ather’s other electric scooter, the 340, hasn’t received the certification as yet because it has not been applied for, as most of the sales come from the 450. The company has also moved the majority of its focus on the 450 due to its significantly higher demand.

Ather Energy has announced plans to expand operations to Chennai next month. The company also recently organised its first owner’s meet where over a 100 Ather scooters gathered.
