  3. Record run attempted at NATRAX

In a groundbreaking achievement that underscores India’s innovation in electric mobility, Autocar India and Ultraviolette Automotive teamed up to set an India Book of Records Title for the Fastest Speed Achieved by an Indian Motorcycle (EV). The record-breaking top speed of 258kph was achieved by the Ultraviolette F99, a revolutionary made-in-India electric motorcycle designed to push the boundaries of speed and technology.

This remarkable feat demonstrates the pinnacle of Indian engineering and showcases the potential of electric mobility in redefining performance benchmarks. The Ultraviolette F99 combines cutting-edge aerodynamics, state-of-the-art battery technology, and lightweight construction to deliver unmatched performance.

Setting the Record

The record-setting attempt took place under meticulously controlled conditions at the National Automotive Test Tracks (NATRAX) to ensure safety and accuracy. Expert riders from Autocar India and Ultraviolette were tasked with extracting the absolute maximum from the Ultraviolette F99, and the high-speed test track was the ideal site for the attempt. With instruments carefully calibrated, tyre pressures set and the F99 in perfect running order, the end result was a top speed of 258kph, verified and recognised by the India Book of Records.

This incredible top speed was made possible not only by the skill and bravery of the riders but also thanks to the cutting-edge EV technology present on the F99 motorcycle. With a peak output of 90kW (122hp) from the electric motor and a mammoth 972Nm of torque being delivered to the rear wheel, it manages the 0-100kph sprint in just 3.03 seconds before going on to hit 200kph in 9.21 seconds. Add to that the fact that there is only 180kg of motorcycle to push, thanks to a lightweight carbon-fibre exoskeleton and ultra-light 400V battery pack, and the tremendous top speed becomes less of a surprise and more of an expectation.

This achievement is the latest milestone in Autocar India’s journey of pushing the boundaries of automotive performance. Speaking on the collaboration, Hormazd Sorabjee, editor, Autocar India, remarked: “What Ultraviolette has achieved with the F99 is incredible. The magnitude of this feat sinks in when you consider that this incredible top speed record was achieved not just by an Indian electric bike but by any vehicle made by an Indian company, more so a young Indian start-up.”

Niraj Rajmohan, co-founder and CTO of Ultraviolette Automotive, shared his excitement about the incredible feat: "It gives me tremendous pride that we, at Ultraviolette, have built arguably the fastest vehicle manufactured by an Indian company – the only things faster than the F99 being jets and rockets. We’d like to dedicate this feat to the future generations of India who now have an Indian superbike to look up to, and pin up on their walls."
