KTM has revealed the specs of the 2025 390 Adventure, and we have all the details to pit it against its chief rival, the Royal Enfield Himalayan. Both models, in their latest guise, get a new engine and an updated list of features.

The new 390 Adventure uses the same 399cc mill present in the latest 390 Duke, which is rated for a peak power of 46hp and 39Nm of torque. These figures are up by 2hp and 2.5Nm when compared to the outgoing model. The Himalayan 450 is down on power by 6hp but delivers its torque 1,000rpm lower. Although the KTM has a better power-to-weight ratio.

Here, the Royal Enfield is more approachable for shorter riders due to its adjustable seat height. In addition to adjustability, there's also a low-seat accessory available, which further drops the seat height to 805mm. On the flip side, the KTM offers no adjustability. The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 has a 3-litre larger fuel tank compared to the KTM 390 Adventure, which should aid in the tank-to-tank range. The KTM gains an edge in terms of its lower kerb weight, as the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is 13kg heavier.

Both the KTM and Royal Enfield ride on an identical wheel setup, with a 21-inch front and 17-inch rear, and boast similar suspension travel. However, the 390 Adventure has 5mm more travel. The only major difference is the larger rear disc on the Himalayan 450.

Both motorcycles are feature-loaded, with all the basics covered. The KTM outdoes the Royal Enfield as it gets some additional convenience features, such as cruise control and a bi-directional quick-shifter. Another difference is that the KTM has a rectangular display, whereas the Royal Enfield has a round display. Both motorcycles get ride-by-wire, enabling them to feature riding modes.

The prices for the 2025 KTM Adventure 390 are yet to be announced, but for reference, the outgoing model’s most affordable variant was priced at Rs 2.8 lakh (ex-showroom), while the top-of-the-range variant cost Rs 3.6 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, starting at Rs 2.85 lakh, undercuts the outgoing model’s top variant by a hefty margin. We expect the most affordable 2025 KTM 390 Adventure X to receive a slight price bump, further adding to this price disparity.
