First shown at the 2015 Frankfurt motor show, this fourth-gen Sportage, currently on display at Auto Expo 2018, is closely related to Hyundai’s Tucson, and rivals it in most markets.

The sporty-looking SUV has great potential for the Indian market, if it launches here. While the international model comes with a variety of engine options, this Sportage is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine that makes 185hp and 402Nm of torque. 2WD and 4WD options are available.

In terms of kit, top-spec versions of the Sportage feature an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone integration, an eight-speaker JBL sound system, a panoramic sunroof, reversing camera, adaptive bi-xenon headlights, LED front fog lamps and parking assist. Even base versions of the Sportage are equipped with front fog lights, hill-start assist and descent control, as well as USB and Bluetooth connectivity, DAB radio and cruise control.

If the SUV does come to India, it will face off against the likes of the Volkswagen Tiguan, Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson and Jeep Compass, depending on how well it is priced.
