Indian racer Mahaveer Raghunathan clinched a hard-fought third place in the Italian GT Endurance Championship’s finale held at Mugello. Driving a Ferrari 296 GT3 alongside Lorenzo Ferrari and Riccardo Ponzio, Raghunathan finished fourth overall in the race and third in the GT3 Pro-Am class. This also hands him the runner-up spot in the 2025 Italian GT Pro-Am Endurance Championship.

The No. 51 AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3 of Raghunathan, Ponzio and Ferrari started from second on the grid after a strong qualifying session. Ponzio held the position solidly through the first stint before handing the car over to Raghunathan.

The Indian racer didn’t just have to fend off rivals behind, but he also had to carefully manoeuvre past the slower lapped GT Cup cars – something that cost him quite a bit of time. Nevertheless, the No. 51 crew ended up finishing third in the Pro-Am class, securing 12 crucial points to secure second place in the overall standings as well.

With the Italian GT Endurance Championship now done and dusted, Raghunathan will shift focus to the Italian GT Sprint Championship, where he’s currently P2 overall in the Pro-Am class with two more rounds to go.

“My main takeaway is to use everything I’ve learned fighting with other cars, have good racecraft and challenge for the title in the last two rounds of the Sprint Championship,” said Raghunathan.

“I’m looking forward to being back on the podium in two weeks at Imola, which will host the penultimate sprint round, and I’m committed to bringing all my experience to the title fight.”
