The new Goa Street Circuit has received the green light and will host Round 4 of the Indian Racing Festival (which includes the Indian Racing League and F4 Indian Championship) on November 1-2. The 3.2km oceanfront track is located at Bogda, Vasco, and will follow an anti-clockwise layout.

Three-year agreement signed for the Goa Street Circuit

Earlier this year, Racing Promotions Private Limited (RPPL) announced that a new Goa Street Circuit was in the works, with multiple locations and layouts being evaluated. Plans for the new track have materialised, and a three-year agreement has now been signed between the Government of Goa, the Entertainment Society of Goa and RPPL.

Goa will be the third city to host a street race for the Indian Racing Festival, following Hyderabad and Chennai in the past. While the last street race in Chennai was a night race, organisers have confirmed the Goa street race will be held during the day. This will also be a home race for John Abraham’s Goa Aces team.

The 3.214km track has been designed by Driven International, who have also worked on updates to the Buddh International Circuit and Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit. The firm was also behind both street circuits in Hyderabad and Chennai.

Speaking to Autocar India, RPPL chairman and managing director Akhilesh Reddy said Bogda was selected as the location for two major reasons – to avoid major traffic congestion and minimise any inconvenience to the general public.

With racing set to get underway on November 1-2, though, there is definitely a time crunch. “One plus point we have is that 70 percent of the track is isolated; it’s not regularly used by the general public. So, it’ll be easier for us [to complete work],” said Reddy.

Organisers are targeting a 10,000-12,000 spectator capacity. But they’re also trying to add some more standing areas that could take this number up to 15,000-20,000. Once the infrastructure is in place, the venue can also be used for marathons, cyclothons, or even other racing championships.

“We are delighted to welcome the Indian Racing Festival to Goa,” said Dr Pramod Sawant, chief minister of Goa. “The event will boost tourism, create employment, and inspire our youth to explore careers in engineering, technology, and event management. I want to acknowledge the expertise of Racing Promotions Pvt. Ltd., the role of the Entertainment Society of Goa, and the cooperation of our government departments, all of whom are working together to ensure this event meets the highest global standards. This is part of our larger vision to position Goa as a hub for international events – capable, confident, and ready to host the world.”
